The following research was done in the hope it will give our children and their children..a sense of belonging to the past as they proceed to live in the present.

I have over 70 100-page clear files – one for each ancestor. I have red files for my paternal side, blue ones for my maternal. Yellow for Derek’s maternal and green for his paternal. Many of them have sufficient material to print a book

- but time is always the essence!!

Everything in my office relevant to those familes are colour coded as to the files, in that way I can know immediately what belongs to which family.

I have used the services of a wonderful genealogist to help me delve into particular families that I have not had time for.

The enclosed charts show only the latter generations.

The CLARKE family originated from Aldford, Cheshire, in England.
Richard Clarke was born in 1783 and buried 8th June 1842 in Aldford, Cheshire

He was married 31st August 1807 at St. John Baptist Church in Aldford to Margaret Smith who was born in 1786 and also buried at Aldford.
Their children were John, Ellen/Ann, George, Job, Thomas, and Alice. I am descended from Thomas.

The GILLETT family originated from Hammersmith, London.
Joseph Gillett died 28 April 1853. He m. 1. Sarah Brown and 2. Elizabeth Munn in 1847.
Joseph d. 1853 aged 57. Sarah died 1846.

Joseph worked latterly in the Royal Household as Yeoman of the Silver Pantry.
His son Charles Joseph Gillett went to the West Indies in 1852. He went as a missionary to Trinidad where he m. Jane

Ross Cockerton dau. Of Judge John Cockerton. This line has been extensively researched through Cockertons and Gilletts.

Iere is the native name for Trinidad meaning ‘The Land of the Humming Bird’
My mother was called Iere Agnes, I am Iere Patricia, my dau. Is Iere Jane and her daughter Joanna Iere – even my cars

The TURNBULL family have been traced back to Roxburghshire and then from Raey in Caithness from where our Turnbull ancestors emigrated to Kakanui in Otago.

Henry Turnbull m Betty STAVERT on 30th Dec. 1789. She was the daughter of George Stavert and Betty Niel.

They had 3 children Henryetta, Elizabeth and our ancestor John Turnbull born 4th April 1799 at Kirkton , Roxburgh – married Isabella Rae Scott on 27th December 1826. (dau. Of John Scott and Isabella Rae) They are buried a Logie Easter,

One of their sons John Scott Turnbull m. Elizabeth Margaret McLaren and with their family emigrated to NZ.

The WILD family originated from Heywood. Lancashire. John Wild ( cotton spinner and Mill owner) was born in 1797 and died in 1859. His wife Hannah (probably nee Parr) provided him with one son and three daughters that reached maturity. Their eldest son Thomas had seven children one of whom Herbert Arthur is our ancestor.

These Paternal and Maternal Families of Pat ( Clarke and Gillett) and Derek (Turnbull and Wild )have all been extensively researched up to the present day.
I am working on the Clarke family at present.
